Nuitsugi Workshop in Sonoma 7/4/26

July 4 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
FREE

July 4th – Nui (縫い) • Tsugi (継ぎ) – The Art of Japanese Mending Workshop

We invite you to join our Nuitsugi community workshop with master kimono maker Tsuyo Onodera and Maki Aizawa. Nui (縫い) means “to sew,” and tsugi (継ぎ) means “to connect.” Together, we will explore traditional Japanese mending techniques used in kimono making while repairing a cherished garment or piece of cloth. We believe that when many hands sew together, a garment becomes an amulet, carrying prayers and offering protection to the wearer. Participants are encouraged to bring something they would like to mend.

This free community gathering will be held nearby the Sonoma Plaza. Space is limited, so please register below to reserve your spot.

Contact Maki Aizawa here to register.

Let us create something beautiful together. All levels are welcome. Any donations to amu arts are appreciated.
